Hi Joseph and thank you for agreeing to do this interview with us.
Thank you so much for having me.
To get things rolling how would you explain Behold the Kingdom’s musical style to someone who had never heard than band?
Each member in the band comes from different backgrounds and brings something different to the table. We are a fast hard hitting band who is not afraid to say what we need to say.
You recently played the IK Promotions Battle of the Bands, how did that go?
IK shows are always a blast. We have so many great local bands in our scene. There was a great turnout and all the bands played their hearts out.
Your planned tour fell through and you have been having to book gigs yourselves, how did that happen and how have you managed?
It’s a sad fact but tours fall through all the time. Communication is always very important in the music business. There was a few misunderstandings so a lot of the dates fell through, but even with that happening we were able to make some calls and make the best of it and we still had a blast.
Could you tell fans that have not seen you live what to expect from a Behold the Kingdom show?
When we play we play at the absolute best of our abilities and we lay it all out on stage. We bring a heavy aggressive sound but with a message of love and hope.
You have said “Behold the Kingdom aims to bring a message of Hope, Peace, and Love to a world who desperately needs it.” Could you expand on that for us?
Behold The Kingdom’s soul purpose is to spread to word of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Our music is simply our tool that we use to achieve that goal.
Some people consider Heavy Metal to be “Evil” and at odds with the message you are delivering, what would you say to these people?
A lot of “metal” bands use satanic and very dark lyrics. I could understand why people would think that because it is a very angry sounding style of music. That being said Everything we do on and off stage is the exalt the kingdom, and we try our very best to set good examples for younger kids.
You released your debut album “The Eyes of the Wicked Will Fail” last year, can you tell us a little about how you felt making your first album?
Everything about it was a very cool experience, I’ve recorded before so I was used to that but I’ve never recorded a whole album. I was really excited to do it because this is what I want to do with my life. Overall I thought everything turned out really well.
Could you give us an insight into how the band goes about putting a song together, what is the process?
Derrik Young comes up with a big part of an idea and lays it out. Then we all talk about it and go from there. On our first album we all wrote the lyrics together that way everyone was happy with them.
Do you have a favourite track on the album?
My favorite track would have to be living hope.
If you could tour with any other band/artist, past or present, who would it be?
I would absolutely love to go on tour with Parkway Drive.
I hear you are a fan of the Chicago Bears, as am I, so what are your expectations for them this coming season?
Well I know they picked a some solid guys in the draft and picked up Brandon Marshall as well. They were doing very well last year before Jay Cutler got hurt. If they get a solid offensive scheme together and work on there offensive line there’s no doubt in my mind they will make it to the play offs.
You can not be a fan of the Bears without being a fan of Walter Payton; do you think Sweetness would have been a fan of Behold the Kingdom?
I would like to think he would appreciate our message other then that I doubt he would like the music lol.
What does the rest of 2012 have in store for Behold the Kingdom?
Being on the road as much as we can and writing our next album being released on Rottweiler Records.
Is there another up and coming band you would like to give a shout out to and recommend we listen out for?
I would like to give a shout out to our very good friends in the band Flawless Among The Fallen.
Thank you again for doing this interview, before we bring it to a close is there anything you would like to say to our readers?
Thank you so much again for having me and I would say to everyone Thanks for taking to time to read this. Check out the band at facebook.com/beholdthekingdom thank you and God Bless.
