Two of Finlandβs most revered metal exports are joining forces for what promises to be one of the most compelling heavy music tours to hit North America this winter, as Amorphis & Insomnium have announced an extensive co-headlining run across the United States and Canada.
Beginning November 17 at Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Massachusetts, the 23-date trek will see the two Finnish powerhouses share stages across North America through December 19, when the tour concludes at Irving Plaza in New York City. Texas melodic death/doom metal outfit HINAYANA will provide support throughout the run.
And with both headliners arriving with new material in tow, this is far more than a celebration of their respective catalogs. It is a meeting of two bands whose music has continually pushed melodic death metal into darker, more atmospheric and emotionally expansive territory.
For fans of towering melodies, crushing heaviness, melancholic atmosphere and deeply immersive songwriting, this one should be circled on the calendar.
TWO FINNISH TITANS. ONE STAGE.
For more than three decades, AMORPHIS have built a career on refusing to remain in one place.
From the raw death metal of their 1992 debut The Karelian Isthmus to the genre-defining Tales From The Thousand Lakes and Elegy, and onward through the progressive, melodic grandeur of albums such as Eclipse and Skyforger, the Finnish legends have continually reinvented themselves without losing the identity that makes them unmistakably AMORPHIS.
That evolution continues with their latest full-length, Borderland, released in September 2025 via RPM.

Marking another chapter in the bandβs 35-year journey, Borderland sees AMORPHIS building upon the musical language developed throughout their celebrated recent era while introducing new creative elements. The album also marked the bandβs first collaboration with acclaimed producer Jacob Hansen, adding another dimension to a record already rooted in the bandβs remarkable history.
The album follows 2022βs Halo, which became the bandβs sixth No. 1 album in Finland, reached the Top 3 of the official German album chart and earned AMORPHIS two prestigious Emma Gaala awards for Band of the Year and Export of the Year.
With Borderland, the band once again demonstrates why longevity alone doesnβt define AMORPHIS. Their ability to evolve while maintaining a connection to the music that made them legendary is at the heart of their enduring appeal.
And now, they are bringing that evolution to North American stages.
INSOMNIUM RETURNS WITH NETHERWORLDS

Joining Amorphis on the trek is fellow Finnish powerhouse Insomnium, whose atmospheric approach to melodic death metal has earned them a devoted following around the world.
The timing couldnβt be better.
Insomniumβs new album, Netherworlds, is scheduled for release October 16, arriving just weeks before the band crosses the Atlantic for this extensive North American run.
Known for weaving crushing melodic death metal together with haunting atmosphere, expansive arrangements and profound emotional weight, INSOMNIUM have spent decades establishing a sound that feels equally at home in moments of devastating heaviness and breathtaking melody.
On this tour, fans will have the opportunity to hear material from Netherworlds alongside the bandβs biggest and most enduring songs.
Put that catalog beside AMORPHISβ three-plus decades of material β and the result is a set of possibilities that should make this co-headliner particularly special.
NORDIC DARKNESS COMES TO NORTH AMERICA
There is an obvious musical connection between these two bands.
Both Amorphis and Insomnium have mastered the art of creating metal that feels massive without sacrificing atmosphere, balancing aggressive instrumentation with soaring melodies and emotionally charged songwriting.
Amorphis bring a vast musical history shaped by Finnish mythology, progressive exploration and decades of stylistic evolution.
Insomnium bring their own deeply atmospheric brand of melodic death metal, built around melancholy, melody and crushing intensity.
Together, the bands offer two distinct interpretations of the darker, more expansive side of Finnish metal β and HINAYANAβs melodic death/doom sound makes for a fitting addition to the package.
With winter approaching, there may be few better soundtracks than this particular combination of Nordic darkness and monumental melody.
