Review of ‘Wasted on You’ by Evanescence

Review by Joshua Becker | May 7, 2020 | Official Band Facebook

This is the latest single from long-time rock band Evanescence.

This song appears to have gained a huge cult following and I can see why. The song seems very reminiscent of Evanescence’s earlier days, a’la Open Door-era. The melody, the instrumentation, seem very familiar to me; bringing me back to a simpler time around the early 2000s.

A music video accompanies it which has all the members of the band at home during quarantine, and it’s such a moving and powerful scene as this song can in a sense be an anthem for the quarantine. Even with the lyrics, though Amy said they have nothing to do with the quarantine, they fit so fucking well with them.

Nice rock guitar, slow beating drums, guitar riffs, and that familiar haunting sound only Evanescence can provide.

I’m excited to see what they put out as far as a full album. To be honest, I haven’t been a huge fan of them since Open Door when the controversy happened.

I’m glad to see they’re getting back to their roots though.

Overall Rating: 5/5
