Bring Me the Horizon tore through the DCU Center on Friday night, delivering a high-impact performance as part of their North America Ascension Program 2 tour. The stacked lineup featured Amira Elfeky, The Plot in You, and Motionless in White, making for a night that never let its foot off the gas. This marks the second leg of the tour, with a third recently announced for Canada—proof that the momentum behind this run is only growing.
From the moment the lights dropped, Bring Me the Horizon made it clear they were here to dominate. Bursting onto the stage with confetti raining down and adrenaline already at full throttle, the band wasted no time setting the tone. Frontman Oli Sykes commanded the stage with intensity and charisma, backed by the tight, explosive performances of Matt Nicholls, Lee Malia, and Matt Kean. Every member contributed to a performance that felt massive, polished, and completely locked in.

The energy in the room was undeniable—and the crowd more than held up their end. From relentless movement in the pit to fans fully embracing the chaos, the atmosphere felt electric from start to finish. That chaos came with personality too, with some funny faces in the crowd, dressed as bananas—and even a shark—adding a layer of humor and unpredictability to an already wild night. It was the kind of crowd that didn’t just watch the show—they became part of it.
That connection reached a peak during “Antivist,” when Oli brought a fan named Kyle on stage, turning the moment into something raw, unpredictable, and completely unforgettable—not just for Kyle, but for everyone in the room.

Musically, the band delivered a dynamic and well-paced setlist that balanced heavy-hitting anthems with more emotional moments. Songs like “Can You Feel My Heart” and “Shadow Moses” hit with massive singalongs, while the band carefully controlled the pacing to keep the intensity high without burning out. As the night moved into the encore, the emotional weight only deepened—especially during “Drown,” where Oli stepped off the stage and into the crowd, blurring the line between performer and audience in a way that felt intimate despite the arena-sized scale. It was a powerful reminder of how connected this band is to their fans.
Bring Me the Horizon’s evolution has been one of the most fascinating in modern heavy music. Formed in 2004 in Sheffield, England, the band began as a deathcore act before gradually expanding into metalcore and beyond—blending elements of rock, pop, and electronic music into their sound. Their landmark album Sempiternal pushed them into the mainstream spotlight, while amo further showcased their willingness to experiment, even earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. Rather than being confined by genre, the band continues to redefine what they can be, and that creative freedom is a huge part of what makes their live show so compelling.
